Counting Down the Days

We can't believe it is less than a week until we leave for Ukraine! Mari arrived safely back at her orphanage with her group. We are looking forward to calling her in the morning and wonder if they will let us talk with her.

We have been involved in this process since April 1, 2007. Time has moved so slowly until this last week! Now I can't catch my breath and my lists have lists! We have been talking with families who have recently returned with their children for any and all helpful hints!

We have read the recent NY Times article about the de-stabilization of the Ukrainian Government and hope that it is just political posturing and nothing more. We just want to slip in, move smoothly through the process, and return home!

Please keep us in your prayers! Thank you!

Hi, I am glad to find your blog today. We are in process too and waiting to get our SDA appt date. I just have to ask - are you related to the Barretts that were interviewed on Focus on the Family about adoption? They live in CO too so I had to ask - it is one of my favorite broadcasts!!

Looking forward to following your journey!

Wow! I didn't know you were going so quickly! Godspeed to you. This might be a dumb question, but are you hoping to adopt Mari?

Hi! Thanks to everyone for their prayers and warm wishes!

To answer a few questions, no unfortunately we are not the Barretts that were interviewed. As soon as we get back home we will have to order the CD!

Yes, we would love to adopt Mari and her little brother. We hope that after losing our first little girl last November, after the SDA shut down in October, that this time we won't have many problems.

We are looking forward to being in her village by this time next week!
